A Conversation with Joe Glaser & Steve Wariner - Truetone Lounge
Today's episode features two legends of the Nashville music scene, Joe Glaser and Steve Wariner. Glaser's innovations include a neck plate mounted bender system, 3-pickup Tele-style builds, Plek fret leveling and nut cutting technology, Music City Bridge hardware and tool supply, and running the world-respected Glaser Instruments repair shop in Nashville. Steve Wariner is one of the most acclaimed singer/songwriters & guitarists to ever hit Music City. The 4-time Grammy Winner formed a guitar style using two Glaser Bender-equipped guitars, a Strat-style with beautiful neck inlays, and a red 3-pickup Tele. Both instruments became closely associated with Wariner via the many public appearances, videos, and photos featuring them. Today Joe and Steve discuss the inspiration and creation of these instruments, and how their collaboration helped shape their careers.
We also look at Jeff Senn's painstakingly made copy of Steve's red 3-pickup Tele that was made for Wariner to fly with when he wants to leave the original at home.

    Thumb picks on guitar are great, rhythm and LEAD- Johnny Winter Lester Flatt Carter Stanley Jim Eanes was using one when I sang and played with him. Old timers and beginners can get better bluegrass rhythm with a thumb pick. It's easier to snap your thumb across the strings rather than a flatpick, "held tightly while relaxing your wrist". I'm a mandolin and guitar flatpicker but I think I'll be flogging rhythm into my 90s with a thumb pick.

    Russ was in CA band in the early 70s; Road Apple. He was great even then. He was even in a joke band called "Russ Pahl and the Spitfire Polka Band" that played a set at my high school before a Road Apple set. He was so darn good he inspired me to NOT become a musician because what was the point.

    A little bummed I didn't find this video (and read through all the comments) before I bought my CS6 and swapped out my Strymon Ojai on my Pedaltrain Nano. After two unsuccessful attempts to line up and drill the holes using the template, I gave up and went with velcro. Unfortunately, the velcro makes the CS6 a little lower than the rubber feet on the board, so I have a board that slips and slides unless I bring a couple little shims with me to put under the pedalboard's feet. Power supply works well, though, and I'm glad I don't have to use an outboard transformer anymore, like I did with the Ojai.

    • @kchas369
      @kchas369 23 дні тому

      Follow up: I found some of the little rubber feet that you put on chair legs (the 7/8" size) and they fit perfectly over the rubber feet on my Pedaltrain Nano. They also come in different heights, so I've got the board set up so it's raked slightly from front to back. Now I've got plenty of clearance for the power cord, and more airflow around the power supply.

      We are sorry you had issues. If the template is not taped down well, it will move, and nothing will line up.

    I’m not a great country fan. But through channels like this one I’ve come to learn that there’s zillions of stories by the players and people who know and love country music. Even more so than there are in other genres? It seems like that to me. Could it be because country music is about storytelling? I really love these people telling stories are about gear as well! Joe should really sit down to write a book! If he finds the time... 🖖
